BUFFET for Youth
BUFFET for Youth is an initiative put forth by PATA for student chapter and Young Tourism Professionals to help reduce food waste at a local level. PATA Canada Vancouver Capilano University Student Chapter was one of the seven teams participating in the challenge.
Podcast
Our chapter established a podcast What in the World in Travel, with the technical support of fellow classmates at the campus’ Capilano Radio Club. It was launched on September 27, 2018, in celebration of World Tourism Day.
Shoreline Cleanup
In collaboration with Capilano University Tourism Management, Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, and Keep Vancouver Spectacular, our student chapter hosted a shoreline cleanup at Crab Park in downtown Vancouver.
Over half a dozen bags of garbage were removed from this beautiful downtown beach park. We look forward to responsibly stewarding our environment and communities in other ways in the near future.
Lattitude Global Volunteering
We assisted employees of Lattitude Global Volunteering in welcoming and orienting large numbers of students arriving in Vancouver from around the world. We offered our local knowledge of the city, acting as a tour guide and local connection.
